Have you ever wondered what would happen if you stopped doing what you are doing, and started doing what you would want to do if you could do anything? Well, I’m about to find out.
For me that’s writing. I’ve had a dream to be an author for a long time. To write full time, and publish books in the Epic Fantasy genre. Last week, after trying for 8 years to make progress toward that dream, I put in my resignation from my 10-year Landscape Architecture and Planning career. This week we listed our house. I am now decidedly outside of my comfort zone, and so far I’m loving it.
With the money from the sale of our house my wife (check her blog out here) and I will move across the country and live (quite frugally) for a couple years while I finish writing The Kingdoms of the Core epic fantasy series. No more safety net. Time to write some books, and time is something that I will have plenty of. In my career I have averaged about 60 – 70 hours per week for the past 10 years. Not a lot of time for writing in there. But as of December 31st, I will be writing full-time.
So wish me luck, and follow along. I’m going to see what this do what you love and you’ll never work another day in your life thing is all about. I’m guessing there’s going to be work involved.
